Our modern facilities boast comprehensive diagnostic equipment such as machines for blood analysis, x-ray equipment for quality radiographs with automatic developers for a speedy image, microscopes for examination of slides and portable ultrasound machines which are useful for pregnancy diagnosis as well as abdominal scans of your cat.
Our small animal surgical suite is equipped with the latest, safer anaesthetic machines using isoflurane, pulse oximeters and ap-alerts to assist us with monitoring your pet while under anaesthesia. Our experienced veterinary nurses are well trained in anaesthetic protocols and monitoring.
At West Coast Vets we are passionate about preventative health care for your cat. We have a wide range of Iams and Hills food to keep them full and healthy as well as specialised diets for specific ailments, we have routine vaccinations for disease prevention and a micro chipping service to help recover your cat if its becomes lost. We also have in house tests for FIV aids and Feline Leukaemia virus to enable us to find out quickly whether or not your cat has been exposed to these diseases. We are seeing a lot of the aids virus in the feline population and your cat can be protected from it by receiving a course of 3 vaccinations which we offer. If your cat is over 6 months of age we would perform the in house test first before the vaccine is administered. Your cats dental health is also very important, plaque and tartar build up can lead to gingivitis, (inflammation of the gums), potentially causing periodontal disease (bacterial infection). Periodontal disease left untreated can cause bad breath, teeth loss, inability to eat and damage to internal organs. We are able to routinely check your cat’s mouth and keep it clean and healthy using modern dental equipment to do so including an ultrasonic scaler and polisher.
If your cat has to stay overnight or board with us for a while they can keep warm and snug in the cosy cattery. Our nurses will make them feel at home and give them the cuddles and attention they will be missing from you.
