Veterinary Services: Covid-19 Level 4

As you will be aware, the Covid-19 Alert Level has now essentially been raised to 4. We have been informed that veterinary services are classified as an essential service, but that we will be restricted in how we operate. Please take time to read this information below.

Small Animals

We will be postponing all non-essential routine procedures for Small Animals at our clinics from Tuesday 24th March. We apologise for this but will rebook all these appointments from the 4th of May (or earlier if appropriate). If you have a booking we will be calling you shortly to discuss and reschedule.

Our teams will still be available for:

  • Any essential animal health and welfare services

  • Any essential animal health supplies

  • All emergency animal health services

At this stage, all existing non urgent small animal bookings will be postponed until 4th May onwards. From now on, we will also no longer accept walk-in appointments. All appointments must be booked.

The provision of these services will of course change. And we have already been scoping some innovative options around this. Our goal is to keep your pets happy and healthy through these difficult times, without putting people at risk.

Large Animals

Food production is an essential service. For food producing animals we will continue to offer:

  • All essential animal health and welfare services (including consultations)

  • All essential animal health supplies and deliveries

  • All emergency animal health services

At this stage, all existing bookings for on-farm work will be maintained, subject to further MOH/MPI advice.

However, where there are options to do things differently, we will - for example, all consultations will now be performed online or by phone.

We have worked hard recently to ensure our supply chain is as robust as possible, and we are comfortable at this stage in this ongoing provision.

We will maintain regular contact with you as we work through options in the coming few days.

Equine work

We will be postponing all non-essential routine procedures for equine work, either on farm or at our clinics, from tomorrow (Tuesday 24th March).

Other

At this stage, we will endeavour to keep clinics open for whatever ‘essential services’ looks like moving forward. These are unknown waters. We value your support and understanding as we work through this. We suspect this may mean reduced hours, significant restrictions, limited staff on controlled shifts, and changing workstreams.

We appreciate that pets are important, particularly when people are in isolation. And we also appreciate that food production is a critical service at all times. Our goal is to continue to look after the health and welfare of these animals whilst not putting people at risk.

Fortunately, we have always provided quality emergency and essential care, 24/7, for as long as we have been in existence. Whilst the external situation may be different, the capability and logistics for us haven’t changed.

And finally, stay strong, support your communities, and be kind.
