Puppy Pre-school

OUR APPROACH

Socialisation, basic care, training and good manners.

Puppy pre-school is the beginning of an exciting relationship with your new puppy. This course is to lay down a good foundation for learning; both for your puppy and yourself. West Coast Vets run puppy classes in Hokitika, these classes are essential for the social development of your new puppy, as well as establishing a good basis for maturity. Our vets and vet nurses, who run these classes, use positive reinforcement methods to allow you and your pet the best start for your relationship.

Each week we cover important topics including basic training tips, diet, grooming, dental care and the benefits of neutering. Along the way you'll build a group bond with your classmates and develop lasting friendships with other puppy owners. The course finishes with a fun-filled graduation night full of games, toys and tail-wagging excitement!

Aim of Puppy Pre-School:

  • Socialise your puppy with other people and dogs in a safe, positive setting.

  • Learn essential training and behaviour tips to continue the learning in your own environment.

  • Gain nutrition guidance to support your puppy's healthy development.

  • Understand the importance of oral health with practical ways to maintain good dental health.

Please note: While our Puppy Pre-school include helpful behavioural tips, these classes are not designed as specialised behaviour programme. If your puppy needs extra support, we're happy to provide trusted recommendations.
